"I immediately felt peaceful and comfortable in her presence. After my very first session I knew I was in very capable hands. Tension that had built up over the years slowly melted away and not once did I find the process to be too painful."

Rolfing Structural Integration

The connective tissue net-work has a tremendous influ-ence on the structure of our bodies. This network deter-mines the overall shape of our body as well as the man-ner in which different parts of our body relate to each other. The purpose of Rolfing is to restore normal length and elasticity to connective tissue in order to improve the structure and function of the human body.

      Transformational Healing Method

Postural problems and injuries will cause our bodies to create unhealthy compensa-tions. Making matters worse, stress and chronic tension will distort and shorten connective tissue, leading to a vicious cycle of deterioration and limitation that affects our whole being; physically, men-tally and spiritually. Rolfing is a transfor-mational healing method that releases people from these dysfunctional patterns of tension and bracing.

                                                   The Rolfing Series

The Rolfing series has an unequaled ability to improve a person's posture and structure. A typical series consists of ten sessions. Each session builds upon the results of the previous ses-sion in a cumulative process. It is important for the client to be an active participant in the Rolfing process. The client is asked to make use of breath, physical movement, experience and personal insight in the process of physical transformation. Typically, this process produces a feeling of fitness and wholeness, a higher level of vitality, enhanced physical performance, greater flexibility and improved balance. Chronic discomforts often disappear once the series is completed.

Our Body Language Tells A Story

Our physical structure is the framework in which our experience occurs. As such, our structure is a container for meaning and emotional charge. Negative forces from injury, chronic or repetitive stress, even highly charged emotional conflicts can damage or affect our tissue. Our posture incorporates these influences while our mind imbues them with meaning. Thus, our internal state manifests itself in our posture and our "body language" at all times.

Rolfing is based upon the optimistic notion that we can change and transform ourselves by coming into a supportive relationship with the field of gravity. While unhooking from physically embedded negative forces, Rolfing clients may also unhook from related psychological and emotional fixations. Through this process, clients have the opportunity to achieve greater conscious awareness of themselves and what they communicate through their "body language".

One of the gifts available in the Rolfing process is a greater awareness of - and sensitivity to - the destructive disruptions of daily life. When a person becomes able to appropriately respond to external disruption, one also gains a greater ability to maintain internal balance, psychologically and emotionally, as well as physically.
