10 Session Series

The standard Rolfing series consists of ten 60-75 minute sessions spaced one week to one month apart. Each ses-sion focuses on a specific region of the body and has its own goals. In addition, each session builds upon the results of the previous ses-sions in order to improve the health and structure of your entire body.

Sleeve

The first three sessions are called the "sleeve" sessions. They re-store normal length and elasticity to your superficial connective tis-sue. Superficial does not mean less significant in the Rolfing pro-cess. In fact, it is essential to achieve greater ease and organi-zation superficially in your body in order to allow for deeper changes which will occur during the core sessions.
Often, after the third Rolfing session, clients report significant relief from pain and physical discomforts they were experiencing prior to their first session. Some clients additionally report feeling an im-proved relationship to their environment and greater ease and authenticity in their relationships with others.
Core

The middle four sessions are called the "core" sessions. They restore normal length and elas-ticity to the connective tissue deeper in your body. This con-nective tissue surrounds and influences your bones and pos-tural muscles.
During the core sessions, clients often come to profound realiza-tions concerning the cause-and-effect nature of their personal behavior and are able to develop new strategies for comfortable movement. Some clients also report coming to a deeper under-standing of themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually during the core sessions.
Integration

The last three sessions of the series are called the "integration" sessions. By now, strain patterns and compensations formed as a response to poor posture, injury, repetitive stress and trauma have been greatly reduced. The inte-gration sessions focus on getting your body functioning in a new and improved way as an inter-connected whole. Each session is specifically tailored to your needs in order to evoke and balance strength, support, and freedom of movement.
Most Rolfing clients feel a sense of having achieved or surpassed their initial goals by the end of the tenth session. Clients typically report experiencing relief from chronic pain, higher levels of vitality, enhanced physical fitness and stamina, improved mental outlook and a greater ability to cope with stress.
Post-Ten Sessions
If you have severe postural problems or have experienced extreme trauma, multiple injuries or surgeries, you may feel the need for additional sessions. Or, you may choose to continue with additional sessions out of the desire to expand upon the improvement you have already achieved.
If you work in a stressful or physically demanding career, you may choose to schedule periodic "tune-ups" in order to maintain you health and wellness. Additionally, you may seek out further Rolfing sessions after some time has passed due to injury or a desire to work on personal improvement.
Post-ten Rolfing sessions continue to improve posture and well-being. Each session is specifically tailored to you individual needs. The choice is up to you. Feel free to request either single sessions or mini-series of varying length.
